RC Sentinel Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Welcome to RC Sentinel. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our application.
2. Location Data
RC Sentinel uses your location in the foreground and background to continuously record your GPS track while logging—including while the app is backgrounded or your screen is off. Each GPS fix (position, speed, heading, elevation, and time) is written directly to storage on your device. Your track data stays on your device unless you choose to export or send it.
3. Heart Rate Data (Apple Watch)
When you record from the Apple Watch companion app, RC Sentinel reads your heart rate to show it on the live recording display. Heart-rate readings are handled the same way as your track data: they stay on your device and are not transmitted to us or to any third party.
4. Data Stored Locally & Retention
GPS tracks, race documents, and any other data you enter or generate within the app are stored only on your device. We do not have access to this data, and it is not transmitted to any servers or third parties unless you choose to share it.
Because your data lives only on your device, retention is entirely under your control: it remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. We hold no copies and cannot recover data you delete.
5. Device Permissions
RC Sentinel requests only the permissions it needs to work:
- Location (While Using and Always): to record your GPS track, including while the app is backgrounded or the screen is off.
- Heart rate (Apple Watch): to display your heart rate during a recording session on the Watch.
6. Data You Choose to Share
Certain features transmit data only when you initiate them:
- Track export: When you export a session as CSV or GPX, or send it to the race org, the track data you select is shared with the destination you choose.
- Event messaging: When you use the lightweight event messaging feature for tech inspection and bivouac logistics, the messages you send are transmitted to the event coordination service.
No data is shared automatically or in the background without your action.
7. Third-Party Services
Our application does not use any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking services.
8. Security
The security of your data is important to us. Since your track data is stored locally on your device, we recommend that you take appropriate measures to secure your device.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
